Privacy & Sign-in#
Being careful with a Minecraft account is sensible. This page explains what happens when you sign in and why Mensury asks for it.
One Minecraft identity#
Mensury does not ask you to create a second account. You sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition, and your verified Minecraft profile becomes your identity across the launcher, client, and website.
That identity connects features such as:
- your public profile
- cosmetics
- achievements and rewards
- friends
- saved settings
- email notification preferences
What happens during sign-in#
Microsoft handles your password and sign-in screen. Mensury receives the short-lived authorization needed to verify your Microsoft identity and Minecraft ownership.
On the website, Microsoft and Minecraft access tokens are used for that sign-in request and are not stored. In the launcher, the Microsoft and Mensury session credentials needed to keep each account signed in are encrypted by your operating system's credential manager.
What Mensury stores#
Mensury stores the data needed to recognize your profile and provide connected features. This may include:
- verified email address
- stable Microsoft account identifier
- Minecraft UUID
- current Minecraft username
- license verification and connection timestamps
- cosmetics, achievements, rewards, friends, and saved settings
- email notification preferences
- active session and security records
- a random installation ID, launcher version, operating system, and architecture for session and device management
Your email is not public. Your public username and avatar come from your verified Minecraft profile and are refreshed when you sign in or launch the client.
What Mensury does not store#
Mensury does not store:
- your Microsoft password
- website Microsoft access tokens
- website Minecraft access tokens
- raw hardware fingerprints
The launcher uses a random installation ID for session management. It is not derived from your hardware.
Signing out#
Signing out of an account in the launcher revokes its Mensury session and removes its locally saved Microsoft and Mensury credentials. It does not sign your Microsoft account out of browsers, other applications, or other devices.
Log out from all devices revokes every Mensury session connected to your profile. Signed-in launchers check those sessions regularly and remove the corresponding locally saved credentials when a session is no longer valid.
Why sign in on the website?#
Website sign-in lets you manage cosmetics and settings, view your profile, and use the same verified identity that is already available in the launcher.
If the launcher is already signed in, it can approve the browser without asking you to sign in to Microsoft again. A matching one-time code is always shown before approval.
Email and notifications#
When Microsoft makes an email address available during sign-in, Mensury may use it for account security, recovery, and the product notifications you choose. Some launcher sign-in methods do not provide an email address. You can change product email preferences in settings.
